“Prep Squad”

Before you put on your makeup, here’s a little “how-to” on prepping your skin!

1. Exfoliate your face and lips: Get rid of all those dead skin cells before you put your foundation on! It will help your foundation go on smoother and more evenly. I usually do a soft sugar scrub (once daily- do over do it!) in the morning with my regular washing routine. This smooths your face and lips- it also smells delicious… a nice yummy fragrance to wake up to. 😉

2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!: I live in one of the most humid places in the United States and one of the most underused forms of prepping your face is moisturizer! I know- I get it- your skin is oily and gross from living in the Amazon- BUT STILL USE A MOISTURIZER! Not only will using it give you an INSTANT glow, but for a day cream, you can choose one with an SPF already in it (meaning less to layer on your face)! Another trick of moisturizers- they help prevent acne! Did you know that acne is usually caused when your skin is trying to overcompensate for something that it is lacking? I found this out when I was breaking out after traveling across the globe. Couldn’t figure out why- I mean, my skin was OVERLY oily and so I would scrub and scrub to get that access oil off and STILL be broken out. So one day, instead of applying a zit cream to my pimple, I applied moisturizer (and not a heavy amount, just your normal application) and the next day the pimple had considerably gone down in size, and the next day- disappeared. Now who is going to moisturize tonight? 😉

3. Use Primer: Apply this AFTER using your scrub to exfoliate and your moisturizer but BEFORE your foundation. It will blur imperfections, reduce the look of your pores, and even out your skin tone. I had never used a primer until about 2 years ago and now, when I wear makeup, I use it daily- an absolute must.  It is a fantastic additive to your daily routine and it very thin. It also keeps your makeup in place quite nicely. No touch-ups needed. I like the sounds of that!

Keep Shining Ladies. Love ya.
