One of my favorite things about Instagram is finding little known boutiques, adding them to my feed, and then ordering from them. One of my favorite Instagram adds is the clothing company called ” Be Still.” This clothing company is not just a brand but a ministry- a company that means to bring hope to the hopeless, comfort to those in pain, and strength to the weak all through verses found in the bible. They sell numerous items on their site including t-shirts, zip up hoodies, coffee cups, sweatshirts, and hats. I absolutely love their products and their hip, trendy ways to wear bible verses.

After my episode from filming TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress: The Big Day aired- I was ambushed with hateful comments from viewers thinking that I was a totally mean, stuck up, plain old terrible human. It absolutely broke my heart. I was devastated to think that people actually thought these things about me. Obviously reality tv can be perceived in many ways- oh the joys of editing! In the midst of the madness  (and many, many tears)-  I remembered a verse from the book of Luke that stated: “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” (Luke 6:27) Once I remembered that verse, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.  It made me realize that there are going to be people in the world that don’t like you and worse, they don’t like you and don’t know you. (My thoughts: Stop being so hypocritical!) They are telling you what a horrible person you are when they in turn are making you feel horrible by being horrible to you.

I was thrilled to see that “Be Still” Clothing Company made a shirt for this very verse in the trendy way of  “Hug the Haters”.  I encourage you to visit their website and find something great for your wardrobe! I love this company and hope they realize how instrumental one simple t-shirt was in helping me find my inner peace in a world of craziness.

BEAUTIFUL post, Kristi! First of all, I saw the Big Day Special episode and you were NOT stuck up, mean or a terrible human at all…quite the opposite. Knowing what you want and shoving it down someone’s throat are two totally different things! I truly think you had one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. <3 I adore your shirt too! What a wonderful message to spread around this world…we definitely need it. Thank you once again for sharing- reading your posts are always such an inspiration!

Hi Kristi, I just found your blog after seeing your SYTTD episode (all shows are super behind in England and I just watched it a couple weeks ago) and I think you’re so sweet and I found your humour funny! There will always be people that knock you down and at the end of the day it makes them sound stupid and jealous! We can’t be every ones cup of tea and I can imagine it’s rough getting that criticism at such a happy time in your life but ignoring them gives you all the power! I thought your wedding was gorgeous and you looked absolutely beautiful!! I’m a new reader but I love all your posts so far, keep up the great writing and don’t listen to the haters!!

It’s an unfortunate characteristic of people who are unhappy with themselves and their own lives, to point the finger outward and criticize others. You hold true to yourself and your beliefs. Although you cannot control the actions of others (or even understand them sometimes!), you can control how you respond to the actions of others. Continue to carry yourself with dignity and grace and hold your pretty head up high!

I’m sure your a really sweet person and editing is definitely involved in these shows. They don’t know you so don’t listen to them! xoxo

Did they let you see how you were being presented before the show aired? I was a little bit concerned when I saw this but assumed it was editing… Your fellow seems like a lovely guy and it didn’t make sense that you could have a partnership like that and be getting married. Hugs hey. I loved your dress.

Unfortunately, when you see the show- we see it. We had no idea that I was going to be edited in such a manner. Please read my blog entitled “Hug the Haters” to get my full opinion! Thank you for understanding that reality isn’t always real! Thank you for loving my dress- I did too! xo!
